For sending timecode from a Tentacle into a Zoom F6 you can simply use the 3.5mm TRS cable already included in our sets. Please select in the menu of the recorder TIMECODE -> EXT. We recommend to keep your Tentacle connected at all times to ensure correct timecode information and enable wireless sync. However it is also possible to sync the internal clock of the sound recorder from a Tentacle. But we cannot guarantee synchronicity with the built-in timecode clock of the Zoom F6. Here is more information why: How many Tentacles do I need for my setup?
In case you still like to use the Zoom F6 as the master in your setup be aware that unlike other recording devices the timecode input uses a different pin as the timecode out. While our Tentacles send the Timecode IN and OUT both on the tip, the Zoom F6 sends the output on the ring.
We don’t have an adapter cable specifically for the Zoom F6, but here are two options how to solve this:
1. You can either solder a cable or have it made. The left and right of the two stereo channels have to be reversed in the pinout. Please see the C15 cable Tentacle TRS to Transmitter TRS wiring in our Pinouts and Wiring Diagrams
2. You can order the Tentacle to Bodypack Y-adapter cable in our online shop and use the Transmitter connector with the golden lockable minijack on the Zoom F6 and the standard TRS minijack for the Tentacle as indicated on the cable.
These cables would serve only for receiving Timecode from the Zoom F6. As mentioned before the easiest and most convenient setup with the Zoom F6 is to send timecode in from a Tentacle and keep it connected throughout the day.
